This widespread practice by media outlets and social media, to name but two participants in this intentional act, is a significant factor in the increase in orphan works.<br /><br />Also contributing to the creation of orphan works is that the fact credits are routinely ignored by the media, or even more astonishingly, they credit the 'internet' as opposed to the creator even when the creator is clearly stated. <br /><br />UK moral rights legislation is very weak.
